Weather conditions:
There is a warm current Soi coming from the south along the Okhotsk shore of the Iturup Island. Due to this current the water and air temperature is significantly higher than from the ocean side. The air temperature in July-September ranges from +12 at night to +20-25 in the daytime. The average daily air temperature at this time of the year is + 15-16. Usually there is a lot of sun. The Bogatyr mountain ridge and the Stokap, Burevestnik and Atsonupuri volcanoes often restrain fogs and low clouds from the ocean. The sea water temperature ranges from +14 in July to +17 in August and in the beginning of September. At low tide in the rocky baths the water can warm up to + 20 degrees. Therefore in warm sunny weather it is quite possible to swim in the sea.

How to get to the Iturup Island (the town of Kurilsk)?

First you need to get to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Airplanes from different cities of Russia fly here. It is cheaper to buy a round-trip ticket from Moscow. You can also get to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk by train+ ferry + bus (via Vanino, Kholmsk).
The airplane of Aurora airlines (this is a comfortable Canadian Bombardier) flies from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Kurilsk (Iturup) (https://www.flyaurora.ru/). The flight lasts 1 hour and 10 min.

Attention! Tickets to the town of Kurilsk should be taken on the start date of the session, a return ticket – on the following day after the end of the session.
